We treat it like a real school, not a directory: we stand behind every teacher, we handle the pricing and the logistics, and once a year the whole community comes together for the Palette & Smock Art Annual — a gallery show where every young artist gets a wall. Lessons aren't just lessons; they're the road to something real.
Palette & Smock was created by a small group who've lived every side of this — art teachers, school staff, and business owners — and, most of all, parents. We kept running into the same gap in a field we care deeply about: art is the thing so many kids light up for, yet there was no trusted, simple way to find a real teacher to nurture it. So we set out to fix it.
As parents, we know how much it matters for a child to have something to work toward — and to be truly seen, encouraged, and celebrated for what they create. That belief shapes everything we do. It's why every student's year builds toward the Palette & Smock Art Annual, where their work hangs on a real gallery wall for the whole community to admire.
We built the art school we wished existed for our own kids — warm, vetted, and rooted in one idea: every child deserves a real art teacher, and every artist deserves to just teach.
